ENCOUNTERS WITH HOPE are daily spots heard on radio, offering hope, wisdom for life and providing an avenue to encounter the love and power, the goodness and greatness of Jesus Christ. Currently, spots are heard Monday thru Friday on 103.5 FM Thunder Country in Southwestern Virginia around 7:10AM and 4:20PM.

SELECTED SPOT FROM THIS WEEK:
There she was, a young, unsuspecting woman visited by an angel of God who said to her: “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High…His kingdom will never end.” (Luke 1) Naturally, Mary was amazed, surprised and anxious about what she had heard. It’s not every day a woman gets a visit from an angel telling her that she will carry the Son of God.

But her reaction in the midst of her anxiety, her reservations and her surprise was this: “May it be to me as you have said.” (Luke 1) Perhaps that is why God could trust her with such an important mission. She was willing to hear the word of God and to obey what God had told her. For me, that’s one of the most amazing lessons about Mary. She knew that most people would not believe her. Many people in her town would shun her. God found Mary trustworthy for such a mission perhaps because He knew, that in spite of the challenges, Mary would obey Him. May we react with a heart like Mary’s. These are “Encounters with Hope.”
