ENCOUNTER is a powerful, interactive and unique concert experience for the purpose of uniting together as a community and region, for discovering hope in Jesus Christ, for awakening through a personal encounter with Him and for being equipped to be His witness in our places of influence.
It is about revival in our lives, families, churches, campuses and communities because we meet Jesus.
ENCOUNTER 2011 – On Saturday, October 22, 2011 around 500 people united at the Lincoln Theatre to encounter Jesus, to be transformed by Him and to commit to be a transformative people in our communities, campuses and nation. The theme of the night was, “The Generation That Will Change the World” based on Acts 17:6. “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.” We enjoyed a professional light show, an amazing, three-screen multimedia experience, a powerful drama, histerical comedy from Justin Keene, music from the band Burnt Offering and a message of hope for our lives, our region and our nation. We heard several stories of people who were touched by the Lord that night. Several people received the Lord and several more responded to a call to full time Christian ministry. This was our fifth Encounter experience in Marion, VA, and it felt like the best one yet! We also traveled to Asia to hold Encounter events there in 2011. For information on that click on Asia. Several people received Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
Around $2,900 were raised – $1,450 for Project Crossroads and $1,450 for Encounter Asia from the attendees’ $5 ticket price and from an offering.
98 people came forward to state publicly that they wanted to be a part of rebuilding the walls of Southwest Virginia, their homes, schools, communities and nation.
One youth leader emailed and said they had brought their youth to Encounter and that the youth have been on fire ever since. They are so on fire, that they are wanting to do something that will set the rest of their church on fire and asked if we could bring Encounter to their church. We were impressed with that youth leader and those students!
One awesome youth pastor wrote: Still on a spiritual high from ENCOUNTER 2010 last Sat. night! It was awesome! There was such a powerful anointing there.I loved the comparison of Nehemiah walking among the rubble and weeping for God’s vision, with us walking among the broken lives in SW VA and doing the same!

One youth pastor, Burnt Offering’s drummer, Shane, led his group in doing a “Love Radically” project to raise over $1,000 to provide mosquito nets for homes in Uganda to protect children from the very real life-threatening disease malaria.
